There’s just one Premier League match taking place on Sunday, so this is the opportunity for both of these two teams to be in the spotlight, looking to climb away from the bottom three.
Of the two, Nottingham Forest are one point better off, with their undisputed highlight of September coming right at the start, beating Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Last weekend, Steve Cooper’s team were easily swatted aside by Manchester City, conceding twice in the opening 15 minutes, rarely threatening, despite being up against ten-men for the entire second half.
At home, the Reds are unbeaten in five Premier League outings, winning four on the spin prior to a draw with Burnley, so will they extend that streak here?
Brentford meantime have still only won once this season, hammering West London rivals Fulham in mid-August, and come into this clash following three successive defeats.
Last weekend, Thomas Frank’s team were surprisingly beaten 3-1 at home by winless Everton, putting in, almost indisputably, the Bees’ worst performance since gaining promotion in 2021.
Thee Bees are now 13th and, with some tough fixtures to come, need points to stay clear of the drop zone.
Brentford are unbeaten in four meetings with Forest although, in this fixture last season, the Reds salvaged a draw in the 96th minute, courtesy of Mathias Jørgensen’s 96th minute own goal.

Steve Cooper’s team have had a full week on the training ground to prepare for this one, which could be advantageous.
Matt Turner appears to still be the number one goalkeeper despite the arrival of Odysseas Vlachodimos, who’s yet to make his debut.
Another player with Arsenal connections, Nuno Tavares, went off injured in the first half at the Etihad, but Cooper could switch from a 5-4-1 to a 4-3-3 anyway.
This could allow Callum Hudson-Odoi, who scored on debut in Forest’s last home game, to return to the XI.

Brentford do have an always increasing injury list right now, with Ben Mee currently out, while Rico Henry and Kevin Schade have suffered long-term issues in or before their last two league games.
Mathias Jensen, who came on after an hour, was the only key, available player who didn’t start the mid-week Carabao Cup defeat, so he’ll return for this one, in place of Frank Onyeka.
If Thomas Frank wants to deploy a 4-3-3, Keane Lewis-Potter will start in attack, although he may go for the more pragmatic 5-3-2.
