With both France and Netherlands also in Group B, it was always going to be a big ask for either of these two teams to break up that duopoly.
However, even if neither can upset the odds and snatch a top two finish, both are highly-likely to be featuring in March’s play-offs, making every game important.

The Boys in Green showed encouraging signs during last year’s Nations League campaign, beating both Scotland and Armenia, so have done enough to all but guarantee a play-off spot.
This though will be a serious test of Ireland’s new-found resolve, so will Greece make home advantage count at Agia Sophia Stadium?

The away side travel without captain Séamus Coleman and Chiedozie Ogbene so Matt Doherty, who played just 16 minutes for Atlético Madrid after arriving in January, will start at right-back.
Gavin Bazunu endured a tough season as Southampton’s number one, dropped towards the end of the campaign, but is likely to keep his place in goal, chosen over Caoimhín Kelleher.
If he features in both qualifiers this week, James McClean will become only the eighth Irishman to reach 100 caps.
Evan Ferguson of Brighton will lead the line, having bagged his first international goal in a friendly win over Latvia in March.
