This is a a clash of contrasts, as one of Europe’s biggest and most-well supporters clubs takes on a team who have been punching above their weight for a decade or so.
Fenerbahçe are competing in a 15th UEFA group stage, following qualification victories over Zimbru Chișinău, Maribor and FC Twente.
This time last year, the Yellow Canaries topped their Europa League group, before being ousted by Sevilla, so İsmail Kartal’s team are widely expected to reach the knockouts of this competition too.
As for Nordsjælland, this is just their second appearance in a group phase, debuting in the Champions League no less 11 years ago.
Since, they’d fallen in qualifying twice, but it was third time lucky this summer, courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Steaua București before a 6-0 drubbing of Partizan Belgrade.
So, Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team will believe they can reach the knockout stages, although Nordsjælland are faced with, on paper, their toughest fixture up first.
