Two of the Championship’s most out of form clubs are set to lock horns in a crunch clash at the Riverside Stadium this Saturday, September 23rd.
The matchup in question will see Middlesbrough act as hosts, in a meeting with Southampton.
Beginning with the former, Middlesbrough, for those not aware, have endured nothing short of a nightmare campaign to date.
After narrowly missing out on promotion to the top-flight last time out, Michael Carrick’s troops have since seen their form fall firmly off the side of a cliff.
All told, across seven Championship outings to date, Boro have managed to piece together a paltry haul of two points.
This comes owing to a record of two draws, and a hefty five defeats.
And, though they did manage to avoid defeat, Darragh Lenihan’s 2nd-half strike proved enough for just a single point.
Middlesbrough, as a result, find themselves dead bottom of the table, with confidence majorly lacking across the camp.

As alluded to above, though, Saturday’s hosts will not be the only ones heading into the action at the Riverside struggling for form at present.
This comes with Southampton, too, in the midst of an alarming dip.
After kicking their promotion push into gear in impressive fashion with ten points from an available twelve, the Saints have since been condemned to a trio of successive defeats.
Not only that, but this stretch has given rise to a hefty minus nine goal difference.
Their latest loss arrived on Tuesday night, when Russell Martin and co. welcomed high-flying Ipswich Town to St. Mary’s.
A solitary strike by way of Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson, though, proved enough to prolong Southampton’s dismal run of results.
Martin’s men, in turn, have tumbled to a lowly 13th in the table.
