Can Wimbledon cause a huge upset at Stamford Bridge?
This’ll be a first meeting between these two clubs since 2000, the year the Dons were relegated from the Premier League, while their last away victory over Chelsea came in 1996, prevailing 4-2.
A repeat of that scoreline would send shockwaves around the globe.
That’s because Wimbledon have endured a torrid couple of seasons, relegated from League One in 2022 before almost going down again last season, eventually finishing 21st in League Two.

As a European representative, Chelsea almost never feature in the Carabao Cup’s second round, so haven’t fallen at this stage since 1995, reaching seven finals, winning four them, subsequently.
This fact surely won’t change here, will it?

Mauricio Pochettino obviously had a big squad, but also has a ridiculously long injury list, this led to a very youthful substitutes bench against Luton on Friday.
Right now, Reece James, Benoît Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Mykhailo Mudryk, Carney Chukwuemeka, Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja are all sidelined.
Nevertheless, Pochettino is likely to heavily rotate, including in goal, where Đorđe Petrović is likely to make his debut, having arrived from New England Revolution for an MLS-record fee.
Ian Maatsen, Lesley Ugochukwu and Mason Burstow, who all came on against Luton, will be hoping for starts here.
One of many new signings Roméo Lavia could be in line for his debut, while will Malang Sarr, who Pochettino seemingly has never even heard of, be involved?

James Tilley is AFC Wimbledon’s top-scorer so far this season, having netted four times in five league appearances.
