While this tournament literally could not have gone any better for England so far, it’s been a complete disaster for their old rivals Germany.
With a game to spare, the Three Lions have booked their place in the quarter-finals, and have rubber stamped top spot in Group C as well.
In their opener, Lee Carsley’s team beat Czechia 2-0, with Jacob Ramsey breaking the deadlock shortly after half time, before Emile Smith Rowe tapped home a clincher in stoppage time, teed-up by Cameron Archer.
Then, on Sunday, England enjoyed another 2-0 victory, this coming against Israel at Ramaz Shengelia Stadium.
Anthony Gordon broke the deadlock with a header, nodding in Morgan Gibbs-White’s cross, before Smith Rowe bagged his second of the tournament with a long-range strike.
The Young Lions had only got out of their group once across the last six editions of the U21 Euros, this coming in 2017 when they were ousted by the Germans on penalties in the semi-finals.
In stark contrast, reigning champions Germany could be heading for home after this one, given that they have just one point on the board.
Die Mannschaft could only draw 1-1 with Israel in their opener in Kutaisi, despite playing against ten-men for over half the game.
To compound this, both Youssoufa Moukoko and Jessic Ngankam missed penalties in that one.
Then, at the weekend, it went from bad to worse for Antonio Di Salvo’s team, beaten 2-1 by Czechia, the winner coming three minutes from time.
So, the only way Germany can sneak through is by winning here and hoping that Israel win by an equal or smaller margin simultaneously.
If Czechia get any sort of result elsewhere, the holders will be eliminated, regardless of their result in this one.
Up against an England side with nothing to play for, Germany are likely to prevail at Batumi Stadium, but this may not be enough.

Lee Carsley would be crazy not to make wholesale changes here, with a quarter-final coming up on Sunday.
Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Gordon, Curtis Jones and Ben Johnson are all one yellow card away from suspension, so it would make sense to leave them out wouldn’t it?
Full-back Max Aarons missed the win over Israel due to illness so, if he’s still feeling a bit under the whether, he’ll surely be protected with the weekend in mind.
Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey was excellent against Czechia, meaning it was a surprise that he was on the bench on Sunday, so could he be in line for a return?
Germany team news
Youssoufa Moukoko was surprisingly only on the bench three days ago with Jessic Ngankam, the other man to miss a penalty on matchday one, coming in to partner Kevin Schade in attack.
With his team, in all likelihood, going home after this one, expect Antonio Di Salvo to throw to proverbial kitchen sink at England.
