Detroit Lions rule out Ragnow for Seattle Seahawks clash

Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow will miss Monday’s clash with the Seattle Seahawks due to a chest injury.

Ragnow, who earned second team All-Pro honors last season, sustained a partially torn pectoral muscle in last weekend’s win at the Arizona Cardinals.

Head coach Dan Campbell said Ragnow was eager to go on MNF but the team will err on the side of caution.

“We’re going to put Frank down this week,” Campbell said. “So I’ll go ahead and get that out of the way. We can go round and round if we want. We’re not going to mess with that. 

“Look, Frank’s tough. I mean, he’s as tough as nails. If anybody can play through it, it’s him. I think we got to be smart. It’s early in the year. We got a lot of football left.”

Left guard Graham Glasgow is expected to move across to take Ragnow’s place with either Michael Niese or Kayode Awosika coming into the offensive line.

There was better news for the Lions regarding defensive tackle Alim McNeill, who was forced out of the game against the Cardinals due to a shoulder injury.

“Alim’s doing better. He’s day to day,” Campbell said. “He’ll be out there running around today, so we’re pretty good there.”
